    If you’re wondering, why are plant-based foods or plant-based diets now so popular? Here’s why. With the increase in awareness over environmental and social-related issues, and also the recognition that the everyday choices we make can have an impact on our planet, consumer movements towards ‘going green’ have gained traction. Enter, plant-based.

    As a major Cantonese cuisine capital, finding dining spots that offer plant-based foods in Hong Kong may take some research, but not impossible. So, if you are looking to implement more plant-based foods into your diet or just looking for a new restaurant to try out this weekend with friends, here are several great places to start.

    A fast-casual vegan restaurants to hit the heart of Central, Treehouse strives to be ‘one with nature’, proving that natural, vegan-friendly, wholesome and plant-based food can be equally delicious and satisfying.

    Multiple locations across Hong Kong

    Ever heard of plant-based foods that are also high in protein? At Loving Hut, you’re able to hit your macros sans the animal by-product without breaking the bank. Get your fill on Hong Kong classics like dumplings and ‘char siew buns’ at Loving Hut. Other than that, remember to sneak a few vegan egg tarts into your meal. These treats sell out almost daily and to guarantee you’ll get one, it is recommended to visit as early as possible.

    ;Ohms Cafe & Bar

    192 Hollywood Road, Hollywood Building

    This cosy nook in Sheung Wan bring will you on a tasty adventure. Ohms Cafe & Bar only uses organic, vegan, plant-based, and fair-trade ingredients. While they serve savoury and hearty dishes like truffle pasta, they are most notable for their wide dessert range and alternative-milk drinks.

    P.S. Your vegan diet will not be affected as even the alcohol served at Ohms Cafe & Bar is verifiably vegan, so cheers to that!

    ;Dragon-i

    60 Wyndham Street, The Centrium

    A hip restaurant by day, and club by night, this cool spot is the perfect place to be if you have a bunch of friends with different dietary needs. Instead of picking salads, Dragon-i incorporates the usage of plant-based protein like Omnipork to serve up some Cantonese classics like mapo tofu and ‘beef’ fried rice.

    ;Lock Cha

    10 Hollywood Road, 01-G07, Tai Kwun

    Experience Hong Kong’s art, culture, and heritage in one dining experience. Lock Cha is a premier teahouse whose philosophy is to provide good tea that does not harm the environment or climate, taking every step possible to make certain that each tea leaf going into their product is of the highest quality.

    With numerous tea shops around the city, the outlet in Admiralty is the only one which offers delectable and healthy plant-based foods.

    This Deliveroo kitchen concept is great for lazy Sundays when you can’t leave home and crave for some takeaway. Operating out of Sai Ying Pun, this sustainable, plant-based food joint serves a wide variety of alternative meat dishes ranging from salads to Impossible Burgers.

    Bonus: When you order select menu items (such as, the Falafel Burger), part of the proceeds are donated to local environmental protection campaigns. Eat good and feel good!
